Carol Christian Poell 2009 Turtleneck
Carol Christian Poell
“SELFSAME” was displaved in a meat processing establishment. A collection that was not openly discussed or documented, it was one without a lot of predecessors and with plenty of significance. From meat hooks, hung creations with “SELVEDGE” construction and the first iteration of the legendary “DRIP” sneakers. Poell’s display of cruelty and analysis of the processing of skins, was laid bare on the floor in the form of pools of rubber.
Cruelty can also be seen in this high-neck top, as the arms were knit upright. The tension of the garment’s feels all wrong until arms are raised in surrender. Hems are raw, and the cotton material has a dry hand. This one is also reversible!
Size 44, fits extra small.
Good condition, with a few knit portions coming undone. An easy repair for a tailor.
