What we do
Community Market
Shop locally made or sourced arts, crafts, and high-quality resale items without fear of being duped by AI-Slop or dropship cheapness.
Every vendor in the FarOffing Community Market has been human-curated to ensure that you can shop knowing that what you get will be not only of great quality but of direct benefit to a local artist, craftsperson, or high-quality reseller.
Community Calendar
A human-curated community that guarantees that no promoted event has paid anything to be displayed on this calendar.
We are tired of event calendars that are nothing more than paid-ads in the guise of an events guide. This calendar will hopefully help you break through the noise and find your local events and community.
Web Development and Digital Marketing
FarOffing has 13+ years of experience building, maintaining, and promoting websites and we would be happy to put that experience to work for you.
FarOffing has built all their own technological backbone in order to create extremely stable, efficient, and – most importantly – cost-effective websites.
Why “FarOffing”?
“FarOffing” is the idea that you can get away without having to go far.
The idea of FarOffing came to me while taking a road trip in 2014 around San Diego. It had been a stressful time and I needed to truly get away from it all. I had just a single day off, very little money, and didn’t know how I was going to find something that would fulfill that needed for something new.
After some time researching, I found some nearby hot springs to visit. I trekked out into the desert with little expectation and ended up having an amazing day. Turns out the springs were in a tiny desert town called Jacumba Hot Springs and there was a small but vibrant art scene.
After the hot springs I spent hours walking through eclectic art collections, visiting the tiny no-name supermarket, and eating the best burritos I have ever had.
What this trip taught me was to stop looking to the horizon for something new and amazing. If you look around us you’ll find that you have all the magic, creativity, and wonder you need in your community. On the drive back the idea of “FarOffing” came to me.
